Blocking nuclear power and gas from the EU’s green taxonomy

A cross-party coalition has tabled a motion for a resolution in an attempt to prevent nuclear energy and natural gas from being considered green investments under the EU Taxonomy. This goes against the European Commission’s objective in this matter, as they consider that they do not respect the criteria of the Taxonomy Regulation.

This proposal was adopted at a joint meeting of MEPs from Parliament’s economy and environment committees. There were 76 votes in favor, 62 against and 4 abstentions.
The motion will be put before Parliament’s plenary again in July, when a final decision will be taken.
